Hi, I'm looking to book a second Europe DH trip for later in the year (first one in July), but I'm wiped out with work in August. I noticed morzine and a few others close lifts at the end of August. Does anyone know of any decent Europe locales that are open longer? Cheers, Rob
There are certainly places open later but you might struggle to do the whole time in one place. If you want trail bike stuff over full dh then the likes of TrailAddiction are doing vehicle lifted weeks well in to September.
If you want full dh then some of the portes du soleil stuff is open in to early September as is Pila. Or you could try some of the german and swiss resorts.
Roost in Spain
Fly to Malaga - riding is great - can ride all winter 🙂
I'd look at exploring somewhere other than the alps in September, it's the best time of year to ride them and that's mostly because there's hardly anyone about.....
Most places close either the end August or 1st weekend in September (8th) but the following are open until mid to late september: Chamonix (but gradually shutting until only 3 lifts at les houches by the 28th, and Brevent is only open for 1 week in the French october break this year) Verbier, Pila, Saleve, Dorenaz, Bex, Champery & Morgins at weekends, St Luc, Les Saisies.
You'll probably only want a day at the likes of Saleve, Bex, Dorenaz & St Luc, but all of those 4 are open into November. The others would give you more variety, but a car and accommodation somewhere in the middle would get you some pretty amazing riding.
I know you're looking for DH riding but my best day riding of last year was probably this: http://www.chamonixbikeblog.com/2013/this-is-mountain-biking/ in late September and shows how good conditions can be!

Brilliant suggestions guys. Particularly keen for the places that are open until October - gives me an additional month to save up!
Swiss resorts served by mountain railways rather than ski lifts are open late, eg October. Downside is they are more expensive, much more so than France. A note on Verbier (not railway served) is to check which lifts are open later into the season, the Savoleyre / Tzoumaz lifts which serve some of the good non-bike park riding close earlier although you can do a lot with Les Chables lift and the main "bike park" lift. Chamonix is a good call for a September trip as was the recommendation of a "backcountry week " with the guided companies which have access to van uplifts.
