Hi all,
I bought a bike because I wanted the frame and it has several bits that I simply don't need.
Now usually I'm fine with pricing, others may disagree, but this bike has some parts I have never used before.
What's the best way to price these sorts of things? Obviously eBay I'd start at zero and have no reserve but I'm not sure for our classifieds.
And we cant advertise without a price.
I guess some bits might be OEM and I don't know where to start.
Is it just a case of put on a price I think is fair and let people offer what they will?
You should do what everyone else does. Work out RRP, add postage, paypal fees, couple of quid profit, £3.50 for your time and inconvenience, and post it daily on the classifieds till it sells 🙄
Sounds like a plan ha.
That's the problem though as they could be OEM I don't know the original value.
Is there a way to tell if Avid Elixer 5 SL are OEM?
I'd start with 75% RRP+Postage/extras for an item which is new but not used.
50% + for used items, lower if the quality/condition is below par or it's getting on a bit.
I'd just be open about it, start with a price and then people like Steve can tell you that you're having a laugh and they'll let you give them the parts for a fiver.
I reckon the 'what would you pay for it yourself?' test isn't a bad starting point really, though obviously the unofficial classified police will arrest you if you're a bit optimistic... after all, used stuff is worth what people are prepared to pay for it no? They can always not buy it and you can always lower the price until it sells.
Cheers badly.
I can't even recommend the parts as I have never ridden them and I always go shimano.
Cheers for the input ill do a bit more research and get an ad knocked up.
Look at ebay's completed items? Things generally go for what they're worth, so will give you an indication.
Non on eBay mate I looked there first.
Your soon know if its to low you will get loads of replies .
Got any bars and seatpost and stems for sale?

not really, ebays prices are over inflated due to ebay fees and paypal fees
Not on auction stuff it's not because that is the price people bid to.
People on here want diamonds for dog shit 😉
Diamonds for dog shit very good.Very true too.You could get alot more a few years ago on here for your stuff Hay Ho thats market forces.
I'm assuming posting an ad getting 300 replies in 5mins rethinking it and upping the price is bad etiquette tho?Your soon know if its to low you will get loads of replies
Slight hijack, but along similar lines i have some 2013 FOX float FIT Kashima 140mm CTD 15QR Tapered forks that have done less than 80 miles that I need to sell. I have been putting it off as I have no idea what to ask for them. They are pretty much mint although the steerer has been trimmed (by LBS) and the crown race has left the odd tiny, tiny, mark which is obviously unavoidable and a new race will cover anyway.
So 50% RRP is the consensus?
OK, can't you say offers over £X, and accept what you feel happy with?

TBH they used to be people telling you that it was available in bike-parts.outer-f-in-mongolia.com for 37p less
go at 75% internet price and sold as, let the buyer decide - buyers are not stupid, however if they are it's not your problem. Though now the watchers will be all over your add in seconds, best go to ebay.
