Hi All I know this has been done a few times but unable to find anything recent since Ebay payments, buyer coming to view bike in morning but not sure how to accept payment which is safe for everyone and also is there a process for collection. I don't think bank transfer is an option as not sure how long it will take to reach account and I will be travelling after bike viewing. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Bank transfer is pretty safe and most times instant. I have bought and sold a few bikes using bank transfer and it has worked out fine every time.

My dad sold a caravan recently and was very nervous about using bank transfer, he called the bank and they told him it was almost 100% safe once it had appeared in his account.

When collecting in person, I've done cash, bank transfer or PayPal friends and family. If it's in person then I'd avoid the "normal" PayPal as there could be a risk that the buyer claims it wasn't delivered. eBay provides a code to scan or type in to prove collection took place.
Ime bank transfer is pretty quick, every time I've used it either as a buyer or seller it's come through within a couple of minutes.

Thanks all I will try Bank Transfer presuming the buyer likes bike, so If buyer does purchase I presume I also ask them to purchase on Ebay would this generate the collection scan.

Your second sentence completely discounts the first!.

Make absolutely sure that you scan the qr code/enter the number before they take the bike.

If they want the bike after viewing make sure they actually buy it on eBay, give payment (PayPal or bank transfer would be quickest, if not cash) and then scan the code.

If after viewing you decide to sell it to them outside of eBay then just take any payment you would take when selling any item outside of eBay. Expect a shitty mail from eBay if you cancel the listing after correspondence from a buyer to arrange a viewing as this is tracked.

would this generate the collection scan.

Yes it does, but I sold a bike face to face where he paid and I delivered it and we couldn't get the code to come up. So I took a photo of chap with bike.

I'd ask for bank transfer or pp f&f as preference.

From the eBay app:

Proof of collection
Proof of collection is required to protect you against item not received cases.

For proof of collection you can:

use the eBay app to scan the QR code the buyer received through email
use the eBay app to manually enter the 6-digit code the buyer received through email
To scan the QR code:

Go to Selling on the eBay App.
Go to the Sold tab.
Select the Arrange Pickup banner.
Tap the Scan to confirm pickup button.
If the buyer doesn't have the QR code available, ask them for the 6-digit code they received through email and manually enter it in the app.

Of course this assumes they have the code with them! Cash is easier.

Dif the viewing is at your house, don't let the viewer know you're traveling away after the viewing.

Cash or bank transfer are both safe.
Cancel the sale as soon as they have left, save the fees. I've never had a problem doing that

If they don't then they have to go back and get it. I always tell them to bring it before they come.

Thanks all for your advice unfortunately did not do a deal as buyer came to make an offer which was not acceptable. Going forward I will go the route of bank transfer and qr code scan if collected or even sold.
