Genuine question here - has it become difficult to sell a used bike, especially 26" wheeled ones?
I took the plunge into 650b recently and as a result I'm moving my 26" Meta on.
TBH I thought I'd get rid easily - it's a few years old now but still a great bike...with 26" wheels.
This isn't a stealth FS ad by the way - it's very reasonably priced and someone will get a lot of bike for not much money - which is why I'm surprised I've had no takers even after several attempts.
I don't think I'm asking too much. Not sure if it's the time of year (Xmas coming) or the arse has fallen out of the used 26" wheeled bike market...
99p start on ebay. You'll find out what it's worth.
I've sold 2 in the last few weeks. One I sold whole and the other split into frame and parts. I got reasonable prices for both but both were in great condition and not too common.
If your Meta is in good condition then there'll be someone out there who will want it. I've had a Meta and they're great bikes.
I would suggest cleaning and servicing it really well and take as many good photos as you can. Then think about where you're advertising it whether it be on this forum, pinkbike, Gumtree or eBay. EBay is the best way of getting the most people to see your ad but then to you have to account for fees. Starting at a low price with a higher reserve works well on eBay. Give people plenty of time to make bids on eBay to allow more people to join the bidding and get them hooked into competitive bidding.
Don't expect it to sell right awayon the forums , people do scan through old classifieds for a bargain so they'll get to yours eventually.
At the end of the day it'll sell for what someone thinks it's worth. It's really down to you how long you're willing to hold out for a price you're happy with.
It may be for the small fact it's a Commencal but that's just a slight guess as commencals were never really favoured much at all.
Plus this thread should be deleted.
I'd also put where you're based in the ad.
I think I've seen your ad. The pic you've taken is horrible and makes the bike look like a weird, old-fashioned shape, with a long stem a la 1990s 😀
If that's not your ad, my apologies.
Believe it or not, most cyclists don't care a toss about wheel size. It's only the super-fashionable crowd who are bothered.
Wish my 26er FS had sold so I feel your pain.
A guy left a £20 deposit. Kept me waiting 7 weeks to collect then cancelled. I'd turned away to other buyers as well.
Gutted.
Finally gone!
