I’ve been trying to sell my Orange P7 for around a month now and with no joy; a couple of enquiries but that’s it!
Have I overpriced it? I’m trying to sell for £800, it’s a 2016 steel P7, Medium, rockshox , SLX etc. ( over in classifieds!)
Not sure if I’m overpriced or people just not interested?
Anyone have any ideas as to where else I can sell besides eBay, pink bike, FB?
Cheers
Decent enough price, but then there the PP just 2 ads below that, is yours better value than that for example,?
Post-Christmas and people feeling skint?
Was the 2016 boost? New 659b and 29er 2018 models are now around for £1099 So that won't help.
Might get some more interest after payday
Possibly not the time people are really looking to buy a bike when the weather is pap. Might have more luck in spring.....
Also, if I’m looking st the right advert is says £1100 and has no photos. The photo thing being really important.
I'm the same with my Hightower frame. I've had a few nibbles, but nothing else. From what I can tell, mine is the cheapest for sale with a good shock too.
No it has photos and is up for £800.00 - I paid for a sticky ad thing.
When I bought it I paid for the Rockshox Yari upgrade .
Sorry put in comments by mistake.
Try Ebay bigger audience I dont think this time of year is any worst to sell anything , also on your ad is that price based on collection or delivery. Personally I would try Ebay and if you can post or deliver that would certainly help and open your market.
Not many people buying as consumer confidence is not confident 😉
personally I was put off by the toe pic 🤢
I'm guessing they aren't recent pictures, as a buyer I'd want pictures of how it is now not how it was in summer
You have picked the work month (post Christmas, long pay day for many) in the worst season to sell a bike so for this time of year it is overpriced if it is not selling. In April it may not be overpriced and people may buy it. Time of year makes a big difference when selling bike stuff. I buy in the winter and sell in the summer and make money from doing so.
If you really need to sell it then eBay as an auction to get the price it is worth today otherwise wait until mid spring.
As others have said, if it isn't selling now then the price for now is too high. Either lower the price, wait a bit or try to sell to a different audience.
To be fair, my feet are a negative in the shot!
The bike hasn’t been used since the pics were taken - just been secured away.
As said, not the best month for selling. Payday is still a while off for many, and even then it could be gobbled up repaying Christmas. I'll be adverting my road bike when the weather improves, it's not turned a wheel since June!
I sold mine with similar spec but better wheels for about that so you might be £100 or so too pricy.
Sit on it. I sold a road bike for a mate who was emigrating a few years back in December. Couldn't store it or hold onto it for long at the tome and someone got an absolute bargain on an auction.
Few people are shopping for bikes in January. April/May/June you'll get far more interest.
Where else have you listed it for sale. Personally if I even bother to look at the classifieds here I skip through the paid ads now. I don’t think it’s particularly overpriced, in fact if I hadn’t just dropped several grand on a new frame I would’ve been interested.
I was looking for a 2nd hand bike for quite a few months although ended up buying new in the end and was quite surprised how little some were fetching .... an Ex Demo - ridden twice from a reputable dealer that was originally priced at £1099 only got £535 ... just as one example.
I think it's probably a mix of time of year and the economy.
A significant number of people on here and other forums who seem to have a fair amount of experience subscribe to the idea that bikes, like cars, lose 40-50% of their value basically as soon as you drive/ride out of the dealer. Bicycle blue book seems to agree. Obviously condition etc makes a difference but a relatively small one.
What does a new one go for? Significant changes - yours is non-boost, new ones are boost e.g. because it is new and in fashion, would probably knock down the price. Not saying this applies to you but lots of people selling bikes (and cars, computers etc, etc) seem to think a couple of year old model should go for 80+% of new.
I think it's over priced, 499 is a nice number, considering you can pick up plenty of nice bikes for that amount of money.
Is it only in the STW classifieds?
At least get it on Pinkbike as well.
It is a bit overpriced yes, you should get £600 - maybe a bit more.
