Brief story - got back into riding last year after 8ish years off. My 26" hardtail was getting a bit creaky so got lured into the world of a full suss 29-er. For what I ride, this was a mistake. I know this now, I have regrets. Winter lockdown project had me building a more modern hardtail, which I thoroughly enjoyed building and am loving riding. I just wish I'd built a 29-er as it turns out I really like how bigger hoops ride. More regrets.
So I decided I wanted a nice 29er hardtail. Initially started looking to source parts until this eureka moment where I realised I might be an idiot. I've got a Fox Rhythm / Shimano SLX 7100 equipped Canyon Neuron 7 which I was planning on selling when the rear shock comes back from warranty... would I be better off selling that whole or stripping the brakes/drivetrain/forks off that to build my hardtail?
Genuinely in two minds here. On the one hand it would make the hardtail build something I can crack on with while we are in bit of a global parts shortage situation but at the same time I don't want to end up even more out of pocket by splitting it up.
Halp?
