It’s that time of year again when the annual bike backing trip is afoot,

another year of honing my kit and it’s time to invest in a sleeping mat as is kipping on the floor in my Bivvy and getting cold isn’t cutting it any more

possibly looking for a unicorn here but hoping to find something self inflating (not a complete deal breaker) thermal and packs down to as small as can be, budget is ideally sub £60

STW…what’s worth looking at?!

Vango Aotrom (Thermo)

Not self-inflating, but don't particularly rate them anyway.

Self inflating are heavy and bulky aren't they?

Get something with a pump sac, 4 single blows into the sac that comes with my Exped Ultra 3R mummy is enough to fully inflate it. The 3r is their mid level insulation I think.

The Exped is also nice and quiet which is important as I'm a fidget and light sleeper so wake myself up on something that rustles, and you can use the pump sac as a liner to ensure your other items stay dry. i.e inside your car bag. If you leave the nozzle open it's even easy to purge the air from it when closing the outer bag.

Decathlon one, you have to blow in it but other than that it does the job
