Hi,
Got a set of cranks with chainring and struggling to get two bolts out. Torx bolt and very shallow ‘nut’.
Usual chainring pronged bolt tool doesn’t sit deep enough into the grooves. Do I need some fancy tool or just drill he bastards out?
Thanks

Looks like the bolt is slightly too long. You could make up a tool with longer prongs but probably just as easy to drill it out. Might be worth doing up the other two to see if that makes it any easier to undo.
Finally, might be worth putting the torx bit in a drill/driver - that sometimes works.
If you could file/ground off the protruding part of the bolt then the usual tool might work.
I've had to slightly modify the pronged tool before to make it fit. Think I used a hacksaw & file to make the notches deeper and the centre bit a little narrower so it could cope with the bolt being a bit proud.
Thanks all. Will try filing the bolt down and then a slight modification of the pronged tool.
Cheers
