So, HTO Son#1 bought a SS road/gravel bike from Gumtree last week. The seatpost is stuck into the frame. He took it into an LBS who said they would give it a go, but ultimately, haven't been able to remove it.
Anyone know of any specialist in London that might be able to sort it? I know there's 'the seatpost man', and various other similar threads on here have suggested other people; if I was nearer (I'm in Leeds, he's in London), I'd either try and sort myself or take it to one of a couple of places that are in driving distance to me).
I think it probably needs someone with the proper rig/tools, rather than just someone with some WD40 and some crossed fingers!
Ta
Plumbers freeze spray is your friend
wd40 won’t do a thing
wd40 won’t do a thing
Yeah - that was kinda tongue - in cheek.
Anyway, the question was: are there any specialist bike shops / Seatpost removerers in London.
I'm in Yorkshire and have no experience of this, but google AI search result says this:
-
The Hackney Peddler:They offer a "no removal, no payment" guarantee and use bespoke tools for safe seatpost extraction. Their address is Hangar 2, Hackney Downs Studios, E8 2BT.
-
Cycle Fix London:They specialize in removing stubborn seatposts and use precision tools and advanced methods. They have a location in Kennington and offer a "walk in, ride out" service.
-
The London Cycle Workshop:Their Master Workshop in Ealing is equipped to handle even the most seized posts. They may advise on whether the old post can be reused after removal and can clean and grease the seat tube.
