Just doing some Sunday maintenance and noticed that the disc brake pad pin has seized in the caliper - noticed by rounding the Allen key head totally...

Anyone got any potential solutions before I bother my LBS with it in the morning?

Sorry I can’t help and have the same problem. I’m thinking dremel to cut the pin in half and the try and unscrew it

@chrismac yes, that's sort of my thought. It's a Cure 4 and there is no clearance to get at the head. But if I cut it then the pads are still in there and no clearance to get pliers in the gap too.

Hammer a torx bit in to the head

tried a torx bit?  sometimes they will get enough grip to turn it if you hammer one in thats a bit too tight.  Shocks it as well

Soak it in proper disassembly fluid for a few hours (plusgas is ideal, but wd40 will do). Hammer a torqs bit in and then I’d heat it with a kettle full of boiling water. You could also try tightening it to break the corrosion.

Aluminium housing and steel pin... Find something that jams in the head nicely then pour boiling water and twist.

Cut the pin with a Dremel, the back end of the pin should pull out as it's not threaded, just a smooth pin in a hole, pads should then be able to come out to get some long nose locking pliers in, let some penetrating oil soak in if it's stubborn.

Hammered in a Torx. Soaked in some boiling water. Came loose and out.

Thanks all.

Dremel a slot into the head if torqs doesn’t work. Plus plusgas

Now use a split pin to retain your pads.
