New job but no secure bike parking - in The Shard with 9 allocated bike spaces for two entire floors!!
What security bike bolts do you recommend? Been looking at Hexlox and Pitlock
Just bought one of those ofo's, most of the bolts are security torx and a few of the bigger ones are a 3 lobe screwdriver. Axle nuts are pentagonal (but tyres are puncture proof foam so thy never need to come off).
Security qrs are a good idea but don't forget to swap the rest of the bolts too!
Before that i used a charge plug ss and before that a cooker SS, neither is rubbish but there's nothing on them that you'd want to nick. OEM finishing kit, unbranded hubs, destickered rims, etc. Both are nice bikes to ride but you'd walk past them in a bike rack.
Thanks
Yes, that’s my approach - an old Condor SS with uninspiring parts.
It’s a fairly kind commute - 24km each way. SS should keep me fit
I put Halo ones on a bike ( for wheels only ) They just have an allen key bolt.
Are you talking just the wheels or the whole bike?
Ideally whole bike
For the bike apart from the qr's just get security torx bolts from a engineering supplies place. I usually get stuff like that from quality suppliers Ltd (imaginative name!) if you're in SW London. Loads cheaper than getting a branded kit. I opted for bolt up hubs so can't comment on the qr's.
Is used to do Reading-> Staines which was 26miles each way once or twice a week. Actually found SS and fixie easier as it meant you got a break on the flats and downhills.
^ security torx is a great suggestion.
Thank you!
If I were a thief and about to arm myself with a set of torx keys to go thieving with, I would certainly arm myself with a set of security torx keys.
i used to superglue ball bearings in the heads of socket caps, then use acetone to remove them if needed.
Personally I wouldn't bother - just get a serious FYT lock and take the front wheel out of the forks putting it alongside the frame with the lock ( I use a kryptonite m18) so the lock goes round both wheels, frame and a strong post. Replace a seat QR with a bolt. Just make your bike the hardest one to pinch
