Gents.
i've got an Isaac carbon jobbie on Perma-loan from a mate. It's the bike i used recentyl in the Abingdon race. When i'm out on it, the seatpost drops about, well, about as far as it can until something stops it. This weekened it was about 4"-5" of drop. Sometimes it's not quite so much.
Weirdly, on the static turbo, it stays in position fine. But as soon as you go outside it drops.

I tried electrical tape at the weekend, wrapped about 5 layers round at the junction between collar and post, but sadly it still dropped. (Not that i'm blaming the post for being dropped )

Any thoughts or ideas ? Is it likely to be resolved with an Alu post instead of the current carbon one ? it's a 27.2 if that matters.
Or maybe some very thin seoltape wrapped once to give it just a smidgen more diameter ? Or..... you tell me.

Get some carbon grease and coat the section of post that goes into the frame.

Edit, something like this

Carbon paste; not cheap but worked for me.

It drops because every little road bump you're driving it downwards using your arse as a hammer. On a turbo there's no hammering.

Make sure you haven't gouged the post as it drops.

Yep - carbon paste.

Although if you have been able to wrap electrical tape around the post - are you sure post is the right size?

I think he means he's tried to tape it in place

Carbon paste. Don't bother with little sachets, get a big tube and get plenty on there. Finish Line Fiber Grip is good, but they are probably all similar.

Yup,
Tape was on the outside right next to the clamp.

Well something is the wrong size. Either the post, frame or clamp. Have you measured the seatpost diameter? Maybe try a shim?
