I need to run a brake hose internally - problem is the hose is connected to the lever and full of oil.
I need to remove the lever and run the hose.
What can I use to seal the end of the hose to stop getting mineral oil inside my frame.....
Rockshox supply something with Reverbs but I've often just put a screw in the end of a hose and trimmed a bit off afterwards.
Don't you just empty the fluid out, then put it back in once fitted?
[edit]I mean, you'd likely have to bleed it afterwards anyway...
mineral oil will do no harm anyway -
Well, it's quite messy.
(Not that there's much in a rear brake)
See if your LBS has one of these lying around?

We had dozens of the things. Ideal for what you describe, but also as above, mineral oil won't do any damage other than make everything slimy.
^^ Not actual size 🙂
Hadn't thought of sticking a screw in the end.....
Should have some small ones kicking around 👍
Buy a bleed kit, run the cable, it's only a matter of time before you need a bleed kit for maintenance anyway....
I spoke threads into the hose quite nicely. Just cut it to the length you require
Save your self some time. I'm guessing they are shimano brakes. Empty all the fluid out while it's off the bike. Push pistons back in too. Then when you put the cable through the frame, bleed the brake properly. It will be quicker in the long run.
