Would go for the xtr style but it's for internally routed cables

According to this they cause extra drag tho? http://www.artscyclery.com/learningcenter/optimizingcablesetup.html

Shimano do sealed ones without the nose and boot too. Better than Jagwire ones.

Sealed ones will be dragger than non-sealed initially, but be less draggy longer term as they keep contaminants out better. Lube the cable and ferrules with a dry style lube to beef up their protection and reduce their drag.

They do a normal looking ferrule but with a seal at the end, I think this might be them: http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/shimano-sis-sp40-outer-gear-casing-cap-sealed-4mm-id6067.html?gclid=Cj0KEQiA0sq2BRDRt6Scrqj71vQBEiQAg5bj08v0QVG131cZtKT6AtR2qNwIOGzJ-_Yn54fxB_TbugIaAqI68P8HAQ#info

I think I had some other brand ones with o-rngs in the ends once but can't remember the make.

The number of grooves might have something to do with the level of sealing.

Aye.

2 grooves - no seal.

4 grooves - o-ring seal.

I can confirm that the ones andyl linked to are internally sealed. I've used Jagwire kits for the last couple of cable changes but recently bought those Shimano ones and they're worked well.
