Got some of the cheap WTB Byways off Ribble last week, and they're not holding pressure overnight. On closer inspection, the sealant is coming through the sidewalls. This is all around and on both sides of the tyres in tiony little blobs. Tyre is stamped with 30-50psi, and I've inflated to 50psi only. Anyone else had this problem or could it be a manufacturing fault?
Is it definitely a tubeless rated tyre? You might find after a while it stops doing it as any holes in the side wall seal themselves. Going for a ride will help get the sealant to all the spots it needs to be.
Are they actually tubeless compatible? It can happen with new, lightweight tyres and should improve with riding and as the pores get sealed up.

Yeah they're stamped with TCS - Tubless Compatible System. Heading off touring very soon so I hope they seal up quickly!
I had exactly the same with WTB Byways.
They did eventually seal themselves and held air fine after a few rides.

I've got tyres that leak a little and have done through their entire lifetime. They've proven to be pretty robust in practice though, they just require air every so often.
Go for a decent ride, sometime the sealant just needs to spread to coat the inside of the tyre, and then the tend to hold air. You may need to top it up with more sealant.
As above - I had this with some non tubeless contis. They did seal up after a while and were fie for a long time after that
50 psi seems high, tan wall tyres are known to leak more than black version of tyres. It should seal up eventually.
I don't want to be negative, but I have a set of cheap tanwall Byways on a singlespeed, i use it to nip to the shop/for coffee - and they puncture really easy, thorns go through them.
Had the same on one of mine too, this one was exchanged though, the other 2 I had didn't have it as bad.

Yes, but do it in dry weather. I once did this after some rain. The sealant mixed with water from the road and got flung off the tyre. I ended up with a lovely latex stripe right up my arsecrack and back.
Every pair of Maxxis tyres I've had for years seem to do that after a few months of use. Not quite as obvious as that but they look wet...
All our Specialized tyres do this.
I think all of my tyres have done that. It often seems to happen after a temperature change in the garage - when it's been cold overnight.

A few years back we had a load of schwalbe tyres do that too.
I had a really weird experience- I got a conti and tubelessed it and it DIDN'T piss sealant. Bizarre.
Basically, a non-UST tyre doesn't have to be airtight, it only has to be airtight in use with sealant, so this is just a sideeffect of that mostly. Sometimes it's more but generally it's just that it's not sealed up yet
Had that with maxxis tyres. Sealed overnight but have decided I won't buy maxxis again as it feels like a poor design to me.
Maxxis often do it but have understood it's just because tubeless ready tyres are slightly porous. The seal holds the air in but propylene glycol from the sealant weeps out a little.
Oddly I get it on the side of my wheels facing the wall when stored 🤷♂️. Makes no difference at all to pressure or quantity of sealant inside. Just slightly damp sidewalls, and only occasionally.
I think that's typical of WTB's light casing tyres
