Did this for the first time the other day and had real problems getting the seals to slide up the stanchions. Used a flat head screwdriver wrapped in tape, but the blade of the screwdriver kept breaking through which resulted in marks on the underside of the seals. TBH if I do this every 15 hours as recommended, then I'm sure the seals will be damaged over time. Also had some problems getting the seals to slide back into place - they don't look like they're back flush as before. Anyone got any tips on how to do this in the future?? Do most people carry out the service every 15 hours ??
Cheers
Take the lower legs off instead, its far quicker and easier and you can change the oil too.
yep, turn the bike upside down and slide legs off.
To reseat use a 4mm allen T-bar or similar to push the seal back into place on the outer flat portion of the seal.
As above
Ah, ok - knew that this wasn't the easiest way - will try next time 🙂
cheers
