You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Twas there last night absolutely fantastic, think Thunderbirds puppets for adults, but 50 foot high, unbelieveable Heath robinson engineering that works fantasticly well, and how many dont want to swing on the ropes when the lady driver of the diver shouts left leg right leg.
How long before someone suggests that the money would be better spent on hospitals or something?
aP, yep, and we've not even had the 'wheel jokers' yet!
Judging by the numbers of people there, I suspect it's brought a lot more money into the city than it cost!

The trains and restraunts did a good trade.
Project are roads in blocked off?
Was in Liverpool this morning not knowing it was on, so a great surprise.
Thought it was all absolutely brilliant. The rolling and pitching boat on the lorry, and the mechanical dog/horse were incredible, and when the girl "got up" at the end (via a 25 tonne crane), I had a bit of dust in my eye.
Moving boat on 40' lorry complete with waves and spray.

Girl (also moving) on boat. It was her blinking that got me!

Off to see them in a minute. 🙂
A lot of roads are closed round the pier head, and from Everton , she was in a huge deckchair this pm,its a dog called xolo ,keep an eye out for the 50 foot diver, when he looks at you,and winks remember he is nt real or is he.
its on sunday as well from about 09.00am.
It's definitely worth the effort to go and see it. A couple of videos I took, not the best quality but I did have my son on my shoulders!
Seen a few pics of this and a couple of vids. The girl puppet's eyes are unbelievably "real".
Watched some of it yesterday from our lofty silo's
Fantastic event, just a shame the weather has turned from our blue sky's into the horizon 🙁
How long before someone suggests that the money would be better spent on hospitals or something?
When I saw it that was my first thought but the maths are fairly convincing. Cost £1.5m and Liverpool city Council contributed £300K, I'm sure a select few burger vans that have come in from Cheshire, Lancashire and Manchester made a bomb, the local pick pockets would have been out in force so Cash Convertors will rake it in too.
seriously, i think it's well worth the money and being a geordie who lives smack bang in the middle of Liverpool and Manchester I think Liverpool really make some effort to bring people to City.

Great capture of Xolo having a wee....
Almost the whole of the wirral was empty of people today, very few cars moving and only a few peeps in the shops.
Well worth the money it cost,it showed liverpool in a very favourable light.
Waiting for missus to ring me to pick her up hopefully fall at half time in el clasico!
Great capture of Xolo having a wee....
I missed it at the time as there were people infront of me and my lad was slapping me in the face in excitement, glad the vid turned out so well considering it was a hold the camera over your head job.
and if your in the northwest watch the special programme we're doing,
7.30 on Wednesday!!
it has been brilliant. The meeting of the uncle and the girl tonight was just awesome!
MartynS - is it the same story/performance a couple of times a day, or various scenes spread over the weekend? Stumbled across it by chance today, but want to go back tomorrow with the missus and see it properly.
Cheers

Brycey sadly not, sundat the big little girl and her uncle an xolo the dog go for another walk round town and then sail down the river mersy and return with something spectacular happening at the end, is what the programe says, the paper one that is.
A good bet is hang around one of the John Sutch cranes. Defo go over for a mooch again though, was blown away today.
Thanks
Project & Brycey ref Projects quote "and return with something spectacular happening at the end"
There is no mention of a spectacular return> http://www.giantspectacular.com/content/route-3
/p>
It says
"Little Girl Giant and Uncle 9.30am - 2pm
Wake up at Kings Dock and leave at 9.30am, travel left on The Strand, onto Mann Island, say farewell to the Liver Building, onto Canning Dock where the show's finale will take place from 12.15pm. The Giants will then leave Liverpool down the River Mersey."
Been saving it for tomorrow so everything will just be based around The Strand. Tried to take my youngest up to Stanley Park on friday, thinking there'd only be a small crowd, how wrong I was, couldn't get near it, and all the roads from Breck Rd in were closed off.
Get there early for the best spots (at least 90 minutes) and don't expect them to be on time, ad 30 mins at least.
2 hour wait but worth it

No,
Its loosely based on a letter written by May Murry to her Dad. May was supposed to go on the Titanic but didn't because she was ill. The story has been played out over the last few days with the girl and the diver (uncle) searching for each other. They were united tonight and will leave tomorrow together.
They have to be on time tomorrow (got to get out on the tide!)
It will be rammed tomorrow (30.000 at lime Street this afternoon) possibly same again if not more at Kings Dock
Not sure what the full programme is tomorrow its quite fluid depending on crowds/weather.
They get in there boat near the new museum (the dock by the pump house)
Roads will be closed off early. They start at 9 in Kings dock so the strand will be shut all morning
Get down and have a look it really is just brilliant.
And if you see a slightly baldy bloke with a TV camera its me.. say Hi!!
Thanks Martyn.
Anyone go today then??? Absolutely bonkers finish.. the Creative Director decided to jump (15-20 foot down) into the Mersey after his creations. The police were NOT happy!
Its been an amazing 3 days, shattered now though.
No not today I rode instead, it finished early because of the tides by all accounts.
BBC 1 Wednesday 7.30 on North West TV. Can't wait to see it.
Any photos from STW'ers?
Yes. Tremendous again, and an unbelievable amount of people (500,000 on the news though I know how these things are prone to exaggeration).
BBC 1 Wednesday 7.30 on North West TV. Can't wait to see it.
and on i player next day for those who cant get BBC north west.
Saw the creative director being hauled out by very annoyed police on bbc news.He did have a life jacket on though.
Very little traffic again today on the wirral, and very full trains going to lpool.
500,000 on the news though I know how these things are prone to exaggeration
that's over the 3 days
well whatever you do don't tune in tonight to see the programme, its been moved.
Its now Monday at 8.30
a programe about a middle class family who left their kid alone in a hotel room, in a foreign country, and then the kid gets nicked and it seems as if a lot of police are now involved in finding the kid 5 years latter.
