Anyone know anything about this? Read about it in BMC magazine.
"... there were problems at Scratchmere Scar between the owner and bikers. It would appear that climbers were stuck in the middle of this dispute."
Might not have been mountain bikers?
A quick Google suggests the owners limited access for 'H&S reasons' as they work the adjacent Quarry but doesn't say anything about bikers. I assume biking access might be limited for similar reasons?
Is Scratchmere not where the [url=
bikepark[/url] has been built? Not climbed there for decades (3 in fact).
Presumably climbers were discreet and kept themselves to the crag itself, whereas MTBers were popping up all over, including the quarry, leading to an all-out ban. Can't blame the landowner and quarry operator for being nervous about this.
I notice the climbing ban has been lifted now.
