I appeared to be picking up minor scratches on the front wheel off my road bike. I'm very sure it's not happening in storage, and it's not happening when I'm moving the bike around. I'm absolutely mystified as to where the scratches are coming from. I suspect from just riding on the road, and general bits of rock flicking up? They all appear to be surface and it's just annoying because then you can see a white mark on the wheel. Currently I've just been using a magic marker pen to fill in the white bits. I presume this is okay? Because they want have any suggestions as to how to prevent this from happening or how it is actually happening? What's weird, is its only the front wheel. No scratches will marks on the back wheel and they really are just a tenth of a millimetre deep
Do you hang it up by the front wheel?
I do, but this evening I went over the hook with a fine tooth comb and I can't find anywhere that isn't rubber coated.... That was my first thought that there was something on the hook that was causing the scratches.Â
Pics?Â
Yeah def needs pics and I've not seen that kind of thing on my wheels (both on gravel and road sets)
Dust/grit on the wheel from riding, then you slide it over a hook scratching the surface.Â
Your immense power is sucking dirt off the ground with such speed, it's scratching your front rim. 😉
