Got a few scrapes down my stanctions today, small gouges. Is anyone willing to do the emery/nail varnish/emery repair?
I had more durable results with epoxy resin as a filler but you need to smooth it very close to final shape with something non-abrasive that can form to the stanchion (bendy, thin-ish plastic, used like a plasterer's trowel) before it sets. Like a good frame braze, the less finishing with abrasives the better. Did 3 stanchions that way and all were fine afterwards. Yes, I have been clumsy in the past.. I'd do the same again if you covered postage but there are better mechanics and more skilled craftsmen on here.
If you aren't willing to give it a go yourself, try giving flotec a shout, they might be able to sort you out.
Email me a few photos of the damage- just about to do the same on my shock (after dropping a pedal onto it- ahhh!!) so have the supplies ready!
Bearsden too
Thanks for the replies. Gordon I'll get in touch tomorrow when I've cleaned it up. Would be happy to bring it along and see if it can be smoothed out betwwen us somehow and get a blether too. It's on the non damping side of a fox 36 so not as crucial as damping side. Ta
