After riding my new Spark WC for a couple of weeks now I'm going to change to gripshift, don't like the rapidfire. Has anyone done a gear cable change on this bike? Do you have to use a length of straw through the frame to guide the cable out and back in again?
Kind of.... I swapped mine to di2. It’s actually quite easy but I’d still use the old one as a draw wire if it’s there as it’s a lot easier that way.
If you've only had it for a couple of weeks, just re-use the outer cable that's already in there?
I've decided to fit a dropper again to mine, so I'm looking forward to another 2 hour battle to feed the cable down the seat tube and up the down tube 🙂
I saw a good idea on a video recently. Cut both ends of the inner so it's free to move either way. Thread the old outer from the frame and leave the inner cable in there. Then thread the new outer over the old inner.
A really useful tool is the little barb to barb connector that come with a reverb, screw the two lengths together and pull though. Easy.
