Hi all, recently picked up a Scott scale 940 when the lbs happened to have one come into stock as I walked through the door. With the way supply has gone lately I didn’t really think twice about buying it immediately. I had a 2019 Solaris max but I’ve always been more into xc than going fast downhill so I’ve been on the lookout for a fast 29er since I sold it earlier this year.
Here’s my question, although it was mainly bought for xc, I still do a bit of trail riding with mates, and having had it out yesterday, I realise I could do with a dropper post, but I’m a bit confused by the blanking plates on my scale. There is one where a front mech would typically be, and one at the bottom of the down tube on the drive side, and an empty cable guide at the top of the down tube also on the drive side. Having dug around online, it looks like the minimal detail suggests routing a dropper down the seat tube, over the bb and up the down tube to the empty cable guide on the drive side at the top of the down tube. Has anyone on here done this? What are the other cable blanks for around the bb if there is no front mech mount and the bike is 1x specific?
I’m almost tempted to just get a ks crotch grabber for the odd trail spin, it would certainly be a lot easier.
Pic taken from Scott website with cable blanks circled for example:

Pic of Scott iccr cable routing I found online:

Thinking out loud, but I’m assuming the blanking plates on the seat tube is to fit a front mech mount, and the one at the bottom of the down tube is the cable entry. I thought the frame was 1x specific so confused at the inclusion of those holes, but whatever, it’ll stay 1x.
Interested to hear of people that have fitted a dropper.
Yes, I've done it by this method:
routing a dropper down the seat tube, over the bb and up the down tube to the empty cable guide on the drive side at the top of the down tube
Complete PITA to do with the BB installed, but managed it eventually with a lot of cursing and a bit of "ingenuity". You can buy headtube port plugs with different numbers of holes. I think I got mine from Westbrook.
Also choose your dropper carefully, the insertion length is restricted by the bottle bosses on the seat-tube. You probably want to be looking at One-Up or Crankbrothers Highline posts.
