Looking at getting a second bike for heavier duty stuff (Cwmcarn dh and suchlike) and I've seen a few Ransoms go for quite a bit less than a grand. I always used to want one of these when they first came out but couldn't afford it. Basically from experience, what travel are they? are they any good? would it be suitable for heavier riding (carbon or alloy)? and finally are the shocks total pants? I think I heard of people swapping out the triple chamber shock, but I could be wrong?
Cheers.

Avoid the aluminum one. Of three mates who had them they all snapped and all were replaced with carbon ones. They're not downhillers neither, one mate snapped his just riding round brenin!

I think the early shocks were poor but got better. I'd be concerned about servicing and spares on them now though.
