I'm looking for a longer travel full suss bike.Does anyone own the latest spec 2018 or 2019 Scott Genius? I like the idea of a twin lock and they seem to come up reasonably well specced as well.

How do they ride and any issues with them? thanks.

Marmite bike for me, no doubt they're quick if you get on with the twinloc. My mates had 3 versions now and couldn't have a bike without it.

I dunno if it's just the way he has his fork set up like a pogo stick or what but I just can't get on with it. I'd definitely see if you could get a decent demo on one... It's a bit like a dropper, the first couple of miles you don't know when to use it.

Do you think the twinlock affects the suspension settings then, or was it just your mate setting up the suspension wrong? I suppose it would be similar to a spark as well?

Great bike, you can fit 29" or 27.5 by changing the chip round.
Rides well, quick trail bike, handle trips to BPW well. good alround bike

Do you lock out your forks at the mo?

To be honest I prob take off the front lock out as I don't bother locking my forks out anyway. and means the forks set a bit more into the travel/open setting, on step climbs helping keep the front down and better traction.
Middle Rear lock out setting is handy.

The lock "switch" on top of the fork can get a bit sticky if not kept clean/maintained.

I'm a Scott fanboy obviously...
The twin lock is a great tool. I use mine like I would the clutch on a car..it's just another thing that happens without really thinking about it.

Plenty of folk don't seem to like it but if you are always up/down with your seatpost then there's no reason you wouldn't be switching between lock/traction/open modes many times per trail.
The 2019 twinloc lever gets an update.
Lower spec bikes got the grip damper and you can back off the cable tension on the fork to skip full lock if you want. Can with the fit4 to some extent but with full lock out front and rear the bike is really fast on the up and hugely capable on the downs.

Great bike, but as with any big purchase, demo first.

My big take away from the first few ride on my genius tuned was that it was a cheater bike.... Not much slower than my spark up the hills, but so much more confidence through the downs.

I have 2019 genius, swapped the fork out so only use the rear lock which I do alot, i find it intuitive and well worth having. It is not super plush but it is slack and rides well. I did have to have a full bearing change after 2 months though, this was under warranty and I am not aware of others having the same problem.

@bearback - I also have a spark which I love to bits, is the Genius basically just a bigger version, so should feel akin to my Spark yet "more"?

Very similar design platform but more substantial with the added benefit of the Horst link pivot.
So yes.. more

Thanks. I’d hope that the twinlock, fully open would not adversely affect the fork/shock - will see if I can find a proper demo from somewhere in n wales.
