Damn that's sad. Came across as a very troubled guy in Joe kid on a stingray.
"I want people to know that illegal drugs killed him and made his life miserable," Carole said. "Good, wonderful people that have so much to offer. The drugs just don't let them flourish. The greatest legacy he could leave is not BMX but helping (curb) traffic of drugs."
With respect to his mother I'd disagree. There are loads of people who can serve as a warning not to do drugs, but only one guy who started BMX racing and freeestyle and the impact of that is so much more - I know a lot of people for whom BMX has given them an outlet when otherwise they would have joined in with the rest of the gangs making trouble etc. There is a massive family of BMX riders for whom without BMX their lives would be very different, myself included.
