ok - so if you were touring for a week (converting my scandal to a tourer for the trip), what stuff would you bring - essentials, bike stuff/conversions, would bring if room...

I need to make sure I'm fully prepared...and still have space to bring back some whiskey!

How's the scandal set up at the moment?
Usual conversions like slick tires, bar-ends and pannier rack would help for long stints on the road.

yeah - cutting long story down, it has the rack, the slicks, a suspension seatpost and touring saddle - I'm still toying with rigid forks or sticking with my rebas...and can't decide between flat bar + bar ends or an old Ti bull bar thing off my old dyna tech...

If you want whiskey then is it not Ireland you need to be going to?

Come on man, it's whisky. 🙂

Main consideration is accomodation. If tent/sleeping bag/mat, then that takes up most room. If staying in B&B/bunkhouses, then you have enough room for loads. I will be touring with tent etc, so just bare minimum for me.

Bike essentials are: Tubes, Tyre boot, quick chain links and pins, Multi tool (inc chain tool) pliers, tie wraps, tape, spare brake pads, spare gear cable, small chain lube, patches, levers etc.
