Hi, anyone done the Fort William to Montrose mtb route backwards? Thinking of doing it a leisurely pace next year, stopping at Laggan for a bit of playing around and then ending in Fort William for some more playing and some well earned beer. The plan is to take one bob trailer between a few of us and take turns hauling it. I see the most popular route is west to east. Any idea if its still as fun riding the opposite way round? Also I've no experience towing a bob trailer so if you have any reasons why this would be a terrible idea please can you let me know.
Thanks

My brother has used his for thousands of miles on overland rides in Oz. No problems with his. (His mate's left the Bob's wheel behind once.) I tried riding it and I've no idea how he manages to ride it with the loads he carries - needs to carry 20-30kg of water as well as normal gear. Tows it with a full sus GT with a Rohloff.
West to east is because of the prevailing wind. It might be a bitch the other way!
I've got something similar on my todo list. Probably do it west to east.
Query I've got Bob Yak(rigid) or Ibex(suspension)...
Also is it worth carrying a spare Bob QR?
Never had any problems with the BOB Ibex QR in new Zealand.
I've still got it, yours for £100 if you want it.
i agree about the winds, but the thought of finishing at fort bill for beer/lift assisted downhilling sounds flipping great! i'd be tempted to go east to west for that alone...
