Tyres for my CX Bike....

I've got the 33mm and am happy with them, but am doing 3 peaks and considering whether to get some of the 35mm's.

Obviously 2mm isn't much to get excited about, but do they have much more volume?

Part of me thinks 33 and 35 are so similar that it's not worth it, but on the flip side why would they make two sizes if they behaved the same?

Official details suggests same weight etc, within difference being the 2mm.

Any thoughts of how different the two are? 3 peaks is rough and rocky and more volume would be great.

I bought both and theres not much in it but do race CX on the 35mm as a bit more grip.

Also doing the 3 peaks but after a few training rides on similar ground theres no way I'll be running them. For me they are too lightweight and better suited for CX racing, every time I took them on rough ground I flatted and was running 65-70 psi.

Bought some 35mm gravel tyres instead, heavier but tougher and a nice halfway between cx race tyres and land cruisers. Still worried about flats though!

Thanks for the reply.

I've ridden my 33s on some pretty nasty stuff and so far so good, but i get your point.

What gravel tyres have you gone for?

I'm also riding the 3 peaks this year. I currently run 33mm Schwalbe X Ones and they're fine for the terrain involved. I am running the tubeless variety however at about 40psi.

I'm using tubeless 33mm too and habe found them fine on some nasty bone shaking Dartmoor trails.

Whilst I'd like some extra robustness and volume, I don't really want to spend £80 on a pair of tyres for one event, so thought I could at least cover a bit more volume with the 35mm x ones as can then use them for cx racing.
