As advice has dictated, I’m looking to change my tyres for a solo South Downs Way effort

Current set up is 27.5x2.3 Magic Mary and Hans Dampf combo

I’m currently looking at a Racing Ralph + Racing Ray combo

Have decided on this for the back

https://www.merlincycles.com/schwalbe-addix-racing-ralph-performance-tlr-x-country-folding-tyre-122067.html

But am undecided on the following two for the front

https://www.merlincycles.com/schwalbe-racing-ray-addix-performance-folding-tyre-275-123065.html

https://www.merlincycles.com/schwalbe-racing-ray-addix-speedgrip-folding-tyre-275-123049.html

If I’m honest I don’t really know the difference between the two rays, as far as I can tell, they’re both the same thing so my deciding factor would come down to what is the toughest?!

Which one would the more knowledgable of STW Forum choose?

Someone please educate me or point me in the right direction if I’m way off of a decent decision

Chart here https://www.schwalbe.com/en/mtb-reader/racing-ray
says Addix Speedgrip is better for durability and protection, so I'd go for that one.

Never noticed that chart previously, thankyou, I think then, for the sake of an extra £3, gotta be worth the punt I’d say

I reckon so. Only used Marys myself from Schwalbe (apart from road/gravel), never had a durability issue with em.

You may be over analysing? And having checked this evening for my own SDW planning, some of those are no longer in stock on Merlin (but I'm looking 29)

I see you have plumped for a rear option but, just to add my thought, those rock razors on the back are incredible tyres. I’m on my second one now, and use it all year in dry to slop and it just seems to bite and hook up.

Addix SpeedGrip compound is the one to get. That's a silly price as well. I paid €45 for exactly the same tyre a couple of months ago (27.5 2.25). Great front tyre for general XC. Stock up at that price!
