Gearing up for a trip to the alps in Aug. Just bought a Hans Dampf for the front it it's seams spot on for the type of riding planned, long big day out epics.

Has anyone had issues with the snakeskin casing in the alps?

My front was fine. Rear Snakeskin Double Defense was a bit fragile between the knobs; lots of tiny holes showing wet patches in the space of 6 weeks and one hole which had to be plugged. Sidewalls fine. I've since returned to sturdier casings.

I just did the MB Bike Race on Thunder Burt snakeskins. One flat but I did belt a rock on a downhill.

I'd probably go with Ralphs next time. Dampfs will be fine.

Depends on you and which alps, really! But probably fine.

Did Pass'portes du Soleil with snakeskin HDs. 54 miles and they were great. Got one small split right next to rim which wouldn't seal, but was caused by riding like a tit and dinging the rim!
