Sorry for the tyre thread. I was just wondering if anyone can comment how the Nobby Nic 2.25 sizes up compared to the Ralph 2.25 in 29er. I run this combo in 26 but found the Nic seems to come up a bit smaller. Can anyone confirm if this is the case with the 29er? Thanks.

Thanks. I've not seen a Nic 29er in the flesh, but the Ralphs look very volumous in the 2.25!

I run the 2.35 Ralphs on my 29er. They do come up big, the same size Nic is very big. Be careful which one you get also, as the Snakeskin Nic is almost 1.5 times the weight of the normal Ralph.

2.25 Nic it pretty big, what rim are you using though as this will affect the profile of the tyre

Isn't

Normal Ralph about 500g, Snakesnkin Nic about 650g – I make that 1.3. And anyway Snakeskin is well worth the extra weight. Snakeskin Ralphs are 615g but again, well worth the sidewall strength at low pressures.

Hi, will be using Crest rims. Thought about running a Nic evo 2.25 front and Ralph 2.25 snakeskin back. On my 26er the Nic carcass is noticeably smaller than the Ralph- although it could just be me. I haven't had any problems with the sidewalls with the Evo Ralph but have suffered with cuts between the tread and am hoping the snakeskin would help.

26 vs 29, they size the same (width wise anyway)

Would say the 2.35's seem to come out quite a bit more than 0.1" bigger than the 2.25's though.

Oh, and as stated already, rim width can have a large effect on the width/profile/shape of the tyre.

29er Nics are huuuge!

I run a rocket Ron up front on 29er and it works really well...

Thanks, can anyone point me in the direction of the best place to get these online? I'm guessing some German emporium?

If they still did the Alberts in the 2.1 I would get those. I'm guessing Nics will be closest?

How do the snake skin versions feel compared to the normal EVO ones?
I am running a RoRo front and cross mark rear, but would like to change to SS RoRo front and SS Ralph rear.
While I love the Ron on the front, I have sliced the side wall open before and always worry about it happening again in the rocky terrain where I ride.
I am also considered changing to the Bontrager 29-3 front, 29-2 rear.
