Was looking to get hold of some ultremos for summer wheels looks like they are being replaced by ones. The main retailers seem to have quite a hefty discount on them, can be picked up for £20ish, any reason? Not turned out to be popular?
I liked ultremos, definitely more fragile than gp4000 but felt better. Ones appear to be similar and cheaper.
S1's for £20 😯
would buy a shedload at that price.
Fitted a set last summer, was very impressed and really wasn't looking forward to changing to "winter tyres" so I didn't, just ran the S1s right through winter (albeit a southern shandy version) with no grip/puncture problems.
Not the longest lasting tyre, but no-one's claiming that - I get about 1500 miles from a rear double that from front and the wear is predictable and even.
Find them pretty puncture resistant as long as you keep the pressures up - tried the low pressure, low rolling resistance thing, the handling turned to shite and I got 3 punctures in a week.
Back to 100psi and not a puncture all winter on a 100 commuting miles a week plus w/e rides.
Best road tyre I've tried, can't see them for £20 unless there's a "budget version" been released with different compound/bead.
I think there must be some OE ones out there. My Cube came with them fitted & I swapped 'em after one ride as they just felt sketchy in corners, especially if it was a bit damp/cold.
where are you seeing them for £20?
I said ish... 🙂 Merlin Ribble and probike all have them for £26.50 minus your cashback and any other combo offers they often do. So more like £25 each Still quite alot cheaper than gp4000. Might give them a try

could be that, as I've not seen the Schwalbe boxed versions with OneStar V-Guard compound for less than £30
I'd look at some German sites
Still quite alot cheaper than gp4000.
GP4000S II on bike-discount for 25 quid too.
ah yes, pretty cheap from .de sites.
while browsing there I noticed Maximum load (kg): 70 never seen this before for tyres, I guess they mean "per tyre" so would be half total weight assuming a 50:50 weight distribution? Or are they really suggesting a total bike+rider weight limit of 70kg 😮
