Hi all,
I'm about to pull the trigger on a set of Hunt wheels, but can't decide between the above 2 tyres, has anybody got any experience with either of these? They'll mainly be used for on-road riding, although the roads around here get very crappy very quickly.
Thanks in advance 🙂
Use G-One Speeds tubleless and they're excellent commuting tyre, with the occasional off-road bit thrown in. Back roads I ride home on can be pretty messed up by farm vehicles and the G-Ones are great. Not had a puncture (that I've noticed) and they wear quite well.
Cool, they do look good. In my mind, they won't roll as quick as a slick tyre for group rides etc., but maybe there's not much in it in terms of real world riding?
Hmm.. I would've said no, but I put the S-Ones back on this week and bike feels a good bit faster! S-Ones are nowhere near as tough though, so I'd rather put up with a little bit of drag for the resilience of the G-Ones on rougher roads.
Ridden my G-Ones in club group rides at 20-25 mph without any issues. They roll very well, a bit like a Pave. My front tyre failed to seal a puncture one evening on a ride home over glass, and currently sports an inner tube until I can can be bothered to patch it properly. They are running on Ksyrium non-tubeless rims and have been great. Easy to mount too.
I will replace them with the same, good winter and poor surface tyres that roll rather well.
Got both (well, 650b Speeds) and I'd go Speed. Nothing wrong with the Sectors, though some people aren't a fan, but the Speeds are excellent.
I have both and prefer S-ones to the Sectors as the ride feels plusher and the grip is better on minor off-road excursions. My only gripe is they do cut up quite easily on the cinder/gravel paths I regularly commute on.
I have to admit that this rolling resistance review of the G-One's bigger brother is quite amazing:
https://www.bicyclerollingresistance.com/mtb-reviews/schwalbe-big-one-2016
Rolling resistance is extremely low. At the low air pressure of 25 psi, the Big One dethrones the Continental Speed King II by 3.3 watts (15.8 Vs 19.1 Watts). What's even more surprising is that at the high air pressure of 55 psi, the Big One with a 225 grams butyl inner tube has less rolling resistance than a Schwalbe One V-Guard or Continental Grand Prix 4000S II road bike tire at 120 psi!
I assume that the G-One would fare very similarly which makes it pretty impressive. I have a set of G-One Evos (the posher compound / sidewall version) which I picked up from Rose Bikes for £58/pr shipped and, although they were tough to get inflated tubeless, once up they've stayed inflated with no issue. For one reason and another, I've not had chance to ride them yet myself, so can't offer any personal opinion on them yet. Ask again at the end of the summer 🙂
TiRed I too have Ksyrium non-tubeless rims and run 25 mm (more like 28s) one pro's.
Only punctures in 3000 mile have been two cuts. One sealed the other was patched later.
Easy to mount as you say. Used them last year at Paris Roubaix.
