I'm a long time Maxxis user but want to give Schwalbe a go. Magic Mary front and Hans Dampf rear seems to the way to go but I'm getting lost in the multiple different phrases and terminologies for each tyre....

Currently run Shorty / DHF 2.5 EXO up front and DHR 2.3 Double Down on the back. Which of the various 29 Hans tyres offers a bit more protection than standard? Apex? Snakeskin? Are they the same thing....

You want the new Supergravity Hans Dampf in soft, this fella...

I've been riding one for several months and it has been brilliant. Great performance and amazing durability compared to the old one.

Can't some enterprising / bored person on here come up with a tyre definition / comparison matrix. Like the OP I've just about got used to the Maxxis lineup and am now too scared to leave that particular house as I don't have a clue what every other vendor is on about.

Why the itchy feet if you've found a tyre that works?

Love myself some Minions me.

Riding that new HD rear and Minion DHF 2.5in 3C front at the mo and it's a beautiful combo for the current dry trails.

Rear is a bit quicker rolling than the DHR2 but still has good braking traction and edge grip.

Plus the supergravity casing is just spot-on for my needs and as I mentioned they've really stepped up the durability.

I'm going to piggyback on the groundskeeper up there although my itchy feet are because I have a pair of Magic Marys that never seem to get used! I've had a pair of supergravity Magic Marys in Vertstar and Trailstar for the front/rear respectively. I got a Rock Razor for dry and fast conditions and feel that a Hans Dampf migth round them out as a set with a lot of versatility.

I'm mostly thinking about this as my Minions are starting to get worn out and have been taking grip on wet roots and tricky stuff.

I think I just need to give it a go.

@chakaping - is that new hand plenty tough aye? The DD casing is working well for me and I don't really wanna go back to worrying about the rear tyre....

Looks like some of the German sites have the new HD in 27.5 speedgrip. Does anywhere in the U.K. have them? Chiggle etc don’t list the model year and the photo is of the prev model

Yep the supergravity carcass is really tough, my pal reckons it's a bit tougher than the DD one.

I use a rimpact insert in the rear, which really adds an extra bit of predictability and security as well

I’m running the new Hans Dampf, much better than the old one. I run the orange soft compound. Not super gravity, it’s a fantastic tyre. Will be running with a rimpact shortly.
