Hello
I recently got some 2nd hand Salsa Gordo 29 rims to fit my schwalbe big apples which I bought a while back.
But I cannot get the tyres on they just won't go despite my best efforts, what is the problem and how do I resolve it?
The Big Apples are 28x2.00 or 700x48 and the salsa gordo's have a rim width of 35mm.
cheers
Andy
Not had a problem with other schwalbe tyres on my gordo rim.
Big apples possibly are a little tighter in the bead as they are a street tyre and arguably exposed to greater sideways loads.
Having said that I fitted some Schwalbe 700c road tyres to Mrs S' Planet X rims today without even needing tyre levers. It's in the knack most of the time. I've not met a rim that's beat me since I can remember.
Really aim to get that bead in the well of the rim on the opposite side from the valve, and keep it there was youre working the bead over.
I was working the on the valve side first, so will try from other side and make sure it's in the deepest part of rim.
If it going to be a struggle would a 2.15 or a 2.35 be any easier.
