My partner has Schwalbe Smart Sam Light tyres on her bike. I've just changed the tube on her front wheel and a slight issue. The bead area of the tyre is grey (as apposed to the black of the tyre) and this runs for a few MMs above the bead (it's this coloured band that allows you to check whether the tyre has seated properly). In a small area of the tyre this grey band is starting to peel away (it has the look of a fabric tape). I'm pretty sure that this is just cosmetic and that the bead itself is safely integrated within the rubber of the tyre but it feels wise to check that this is the case and not that the bead is coming away from the tyre!
Does this tyre still sound safe to ride?
