Hi all,

I have some SC Reserve 27’s with DHF 2.3 upfront and high roller2 2.3 out backZ
Just wondering what the largest volume maxxis tyre people have run on these width rims?
SC say up to 2.5 but keen to see if there are experiences with either 2.4 or 2.5?

I've run maxxis Shorty 2.5wt on e thirteen 27mm internal carbon rims, no problems personally but maxxis website says 30mm upwards is best

I have a friend that put an Assegai 2.5WT on a i29 rim and it looks fine.
My other friend has the Butcher 2.6 on the same rim, and it’s decent shape too.

A DHF 2.5 WT on i27mm might be getting a bit more iffy, because the cornering knobs would end up further down, making the “channel” between those and the center knobs rather large, potentially leading to some sketchy moments in between upright and fully leaned over.

So I would sooner try the Assegai, since it has the intermediate knobs. That way, you at least have something there.

Got 2.5s on my SC reserve 27s. No issues at all.

Running 2.4 maxxis wt on 28mm internal, works well, no squirming, although I wouldn't go bigger than 2.5

Got Michelin WE 2.4 on mine but they seem to come up quite narrow for the size.

With a decent casing I wouldn’t be too worried about squirming, but I do worry that the Maxxis WT are purpose designed for wider rims, so on a 27mm rim the side knobs would be further down and more out to the side than intended.
