I've got the opportunty to replace my Capra frame with a Nomad frame for no extra £££, but I'm not sure if it's right. I love the Capra and it climbs really well for a 170mm bike but now I've got a shorter travel bike and could focus the build on descending a little more. Has anyone ridden both and could advise?

I have a nomad 3 and my friend has an aluminium Capra. Obviously I'm going to say the nomad is better but in reality they are both very good and it's really just down to personal preference and which one feels better to you. I do prefer my nomad because it's quite a bit lighter than his Capra but that's more down to component choice than the frame. The obvious thing to do is try a nomad but if you can't I would probably get the nomad frame whilst the offer is there. Try it and if I didn't like it, sell it and be able to buy a Capra frame.

Thanks for the reply. I think I'll go for it, I've always felt the Capra was a tad small so the extra 5mm might help me out too

I'd defo do it for no cost as the nomad will be worth loads more if you don't like it and sell on. Cheap internet bikes are great but the second hand value reflects the initial price.

How are you getting a nomad for the price of a Capra? Second hand I assume?

Had a demo of the current nomad, a bike that certainly liked to be pushed. Needed to get it over the edge to get the most out of it (a good thing in my book but not a bike for a passenger)

Yes should have said the Capra still has a year warranty but the nomad will be second hand. Still, seems pretty conclusive, think I'll give it a go

Nomad (biased as have one) you can build burly enough but still light, mines circa 27lbs and bar having to pish the weight forward a bit on steep climbs not much i cant ride on it... well till my testicular fortitude runs out.
