Is a Kenda SB8 grippier than a Kenda Dred Tred? Also how do SB8s compare to Maxxis Monorail?

After a new rear tyre for my XC bike, but want it to be grippier than the monorail it's replacing in moist conditions...
Am tempted to revert to Advantage 2.1's though...

Having re-read this, I should probably outline my real dilemma.
I have a Kenda Blue Groove 2.1 DTC up front. Despite not liking it at first I have come back to it and can not fault it in all conditions. But the question is, what Kenda tyre to pair it with at the rear?
A Nevegal is a bit too draggy for what I want, been there before...I am worried that an SB8 will not cope with the wet and slippery roots very well. I've just been using a Maxxis Monorail and it's poor grip on roots when climbing did my head in...

SB8 is way better at wet stuff than it should be, but that still doesn't mean it's great for it... I'd suggest their Slant 6, it's barely any slower than the SB8 but it's grippier in all conditions and astonishingly good on wet stuff- I guess just because it doesn't clog, because it looks like it should be sod all use in anything but hardpack.

Northwind, thanks. Was wondering if anyone had experience with Slant 6's.

I went from a SB8 to a 2.25 Crossmark and much prefer it - grip seems just as good but not as draggy as the SB8 (which also wore out pretty quick)

This is of course based on my riding style, tyre pressures, bike set up and on the places I like to ride.

i love sb8s and agree with Northwind ref the surprising grip on muddy roots. Only downside i've experienced is they puncture a lot - maybe that's normal with such a shallow tread?
