So as promised, due to some unforeseen missing bits, here are some build pics.

So far headset and forks fitted.

Stealth reverb threaded and set up. BB and drivetrain to follow. Bit wet to be out side with the work stand.

Does a five really need a chainstay protector with the chainstay all the way up there?

Looking good nearly ready for some rock smashing 🙂

Ha ha ha we only moved into our first house last year and had an electric fire out in. That plastering is just where the old plug socket was moved.

We are doing that room in a few months time.

I love the green (mountain mint).

The builds stopped now as Orange seem set in causing me no end if comparability issues! Is mount break now.

I've got the standard gold decals to go on. The orange were matched to the bike they came off.

I'm not surprised you couldn't afford a workstand, the price of them Orange frames.

Your build reminds me of mine, although I don't have a work stand. I have the lord of the rings trilogy to prop mine up..

Doesn't matter what colour they paint it, it's still a godamned ugly frame. All about the ride though ain't it.

Actually I think that's a really nice color for an orange, very frustrating getting a new grant but not all the bits to finish it !

What a bizarre and offensive comment.

Have you never heard the saying "if you've got nothing good to say..."

Sorry to offend I didn't think the comment would be taken as anything other than a bizarre comment made by a random internet stranger. You didn't have a lawn or fence I could comment on. However, I am aware of the saying and did state 'I like the colour of the bike', but your hand did turn my stomach a bit. It doesn't seem as bad now, so perhaps it was a bit early and I was feeling a little delicate. I didn't realise you were also so delicate, so my apologise, and I hope you enjoy the bike.

I trust your redecoration will include redoing the flooring properly to get rid of the quadrant moulding. I like the colour, but would dispense with the protector. Fingers are a little plump.

Smell_it, you are a bit out of order with the comment. Early morning, hungover, in jest or as a random attempt at humour.

Mosey, bike looking good mate, really pleased I went for Mountain Mint having seen your build pics. Is it just the brake mount you are waiting for to finish the build?

I placed my order for the new Four on Friday, hoping for delivery in the next 2 weeks. I debated the Five or Four for a few days and settled on the Four as it will suit my needs better. Looking forward to getting it. I'll post some pics up when it arrives.

Hi,

Yeah just brake mount and bleed kit to get me going.

Should be finished midweek depending on work. Not had a minute today due to work.

The 4 looks ace mate. I'd have considered it if I'd known about it. You'll love it.

And finally getting started -

I brought the stand inside as it's just too cold outside.

Big biz of shiny new 1x11 bits that my amazing wife bought me 🙂

Ignore the messy kitchen please 🙂

So, first problem after lots of wins. Gear cable went through the swing arm perfectly. I've bled the reverb and it works and fitted the Ispec b XT shifter.

Brake cable went through surprisingly easily until I realised the rubber cover doesn't fit through the hole 🙁

How do I get round this?

That looks like the cover on the brake lever? If so you need to disconnect the hose.

Also my old five did't have a grommet on that hole in the swinging arm.

That's the rubber sheath that covers the pinch bolt where it enters the lever.

I'll have to chop it off and put a new and olive on 🙁 no way it will fit through.

I was just using the same hose so it wouldn't fit over the olive.

I'd just take the brake hose back out the swing arm, take the rubber grommet off that goes on the lever.
Thread the rod that comes with the frame back through the swingarm and tape the brake hose to it. Then pull it back through.. And then bleed the rear brake.

I'm with Golddigger, hoses look braided so little chance of the frame rubbing them through. If frame damage is a concern some insulating tape round the hose until a grommet can be fitted.

Goldigger, you can't do that mate. The rubber sheath doesn't fit over the olive and nut. The rubber sheath has to go in first. Or in this case, the hose has to go through the swing arm without the olive and nut in place.
