Looking at getting a single bike rack that's easy to use and can just chuck on my car when going solo.

I've the Saris 3 and its very adjustable and solid, but run it on a saloon.

Ive a Saris 3 which is great on a Qasqai but wont work with a small VW fox . If the bumper lip is very small your snookered. Im sure there is a guid on the saris site that you enter the car make to see If Its compatable.
Bones is not very good if your car has a plastic roof spoiler. The upper straps hook over the top edge of the tailgate and the spoiler takes the strain. Most of it is through the feet on the bumper of course but it's not possible to tighten the straps enough to stop the whole plot swaying disconcertingly in the rear view mirror.
I've got a saris bones 1 , fine on smaller cars, even used it on a toyota aygo without problems
