For those who want to combine a summer beach holiday with good riding:
1. According to local bikers the ride to Cala Sisine via Su Irove Longu is the best on the island, this video is the nicest I've seen so far of it (having 3 smiling teenage kids helps)

2. I think that the tour from Flumini to Punta La Marmora 1834 m the island's highest point is just as good but completely different: instead of limestone landscape and muletracks down to the sea you have an Alpine landscape ("like Norway") and rough granite obstacles

This family had previously made MTB holidays in the second half of July in the Dolomites and Riva di Garda and were very happy to find riding just as good (and it wasn't too hot) next to the sea so that the kids could swim every afternoon. I got some good photos for the next edition of the guide to mountain biking on Sardinia -;).
