ive just used my grease gun for the first time on my 2015 nomad, seemed fine, i pushed grease into the nipple until the dirty grease came out or looked cloudy as instructed by the lbs, he said do this every 6 weeks to keep my pivot bearings tip top, is this basically all im doing? i dont have to pull out any bearings i just use this gun to keep them running well? just making sure guys thanks! - what do you do ? prob same as me but i just need to check here cheers!
Im still to try mine, 11 months later, everything still feels great.
lol jesus! fair play to that then, i was advised every 6 weeks but they do say lifetime on the bearings so i guess its erelevant
Yes that's all you do
until eventually the bearings develop play
if thats the case ill get santacruz on it as its lifetime ;p
I do my Blur about once a season or after a period of long crappy rides. coming upto 2 years on original bearings on the LTc and it's been ridden a lot.
It is possible to damage other parts by not greasing it by the way, if the bearings dry out it can cause wear to the link and that is not covered under warranty. I have seen it happen so I wouldn't be too cocky about the warranty thing 😉
I do mine every few weeks or so depending on where I've been riding and in what sort of conditions. It's best to keep on top of it.
I also found it's worth taking the upper link off about every 6 mounts and carefully popping the seals off the bearings and giving them some fresh grease.
Did mine after a month or so with a few grotty Peaks/Dales rides under its belt, just to make sure of the procedure, suprised at the state of the expelled grease, filthy.
assuming it's the same as what Whyte do you need to bear in mind that this covers the bearings but doesn't cover the labour to replace them.if thats the case ill get santacruz on it as its lifetime ;p
I presume i need to do this on my 2014 ayemad but cant find any videos on the net(the sc one is from 2008) how/what do i do?
Connect the grease gun to the nipple and pump some grease through. It's easy
