I'm sure I remember an article on the Chamelion built up in various guises, but am damned if I can find it. Can anyone remember what issue it's in?

Ah yes issue 49. I'm looking for a fun bike I can throw across the odd river crossing without worrying about it shattering (i've got a carbon hardtail), ride all day in the Cairngorms without thinking that it's weighing me down (and a fully rigid thorn enduro) and something that will hopefully instill more confidence on the scarier decents than either the stumpy or thorn. Can't find many write-ups on the chamelion but am a little concerned about the weight - I will try and find one for a test ride, however, any feedback on the chamelion (or similar), pictures you have or details of different builds on the go, might prove enough to make me get my wallet out (again).

It's an all time great. There must be so much on them on here. Just do a search and prepare to spend all night reading. Not biased at all mind 😉

i keep thinking about getting a chameleon.
it is one of the longer travel hardtails that i have not yet owned.
and i think that they look very nice in a 130mm travel set up.
anyone got a nice picture of one.

From what my riding buddies say that have them although they ride them burly built for XC/jumping/thrashing they may be a bit on the heavy side for all day proper big hills.
What about one of the other current offerings in the long travel hardtail steel frame (Ragley/Dialled/On-One) or even Cove Stiffee its its alu you are after?

The frame weight is 4.25lbs (1.931kg) so no carbon racer but can be built up respectably light for all dayers.

I've had 2 Chameleons and they were both fantastic but VERY harsh to ride.

seriously, i do not think a plastic bike will ever be suitable for me.........no matter what the builders of it say.

19".

Im 5 11 and its way too big for what i want it for (chuckable, jumpy etc). I only have a small amount of seat post 'out' and for a bike like this you need a tall seatpost to take some of the 'harshness' away.

Craig @ jungle (who is about 6 3") told me he had a medium so it was chuckable; which when i bought it i thought was a bit strange but after owning it for 3mts I know what he was talking about.

FWIW i ride a 18" five and the chameleon feels much bigger.

Worcester cycles. Ask for stu and tell him you know ryan. He might do you a good deal or charge you more. Not sure if I owe him any money 😉

The Chameleon in large felt like a XC bike to me. TBH it'd probably be like the Chumba that you used you own.

In medium though, gawd it flattered your riding 😀
