Hi i am building up an old Blur from 2006 and was wondering what tyres people used back in the day. My go to tyre, conti 2.2 raceking wont fit, it rubs the seat stay bridge, I have tried a schwalbe blackjack 2.1 this also rubs
Are the dropouts okay? ie is it only rubbing on one side? That symptom could also be your wheel build, try a different wheel too.
I used to run 2.1 Maxxis Advantage and Crossmark on the back of mine on 717 (ie fairly narrow) rims.
2.1 nobby nic is what I used to use on my mk1 blur.
Used Kenda Nevegal 2.1 on xc717 on my 2003 blur
I wore through the chainstays on mine and towards the end had to hold the drop outs together to get the wheel in.
TLDR - Don't overdo the tyre size.
