Hi.
Looking at demoing a Bronson soon. The alloy version is within my price range so I'd I buy one it will be alloy.
I'm just after people views on the alloy frames and why you chose it. Price or you prefer alloy? Do you notice the weight difference?
Thanks
Ian
Alloy Bronson owner here (V2 not V3). I bought Alu due to price point, if I had the money and the right bike turned up I would buy carbon, but I'd also buy aluminium again. The main difference is weight (which I can live with) and aesthetics / car park kudos.
There was a thread on here a couple of months ago which pretty much concluded it was a case of how much weight/carbon vs cost means to you.
I'm not a Bronson owner, but when I was choosing my current bike I decided a few things early on, 1) I couldn't really afford a Carbon bike and still look my family in the eye 2) I would, at least try, to buy an Alloy bike of which there wasn't a Carbon version.
I bought I Bird, I love it, it's got a massive spec and cost about the same as a frame-only carbon Bronson or oddly, one of their base model Carbon full builds. It's not heavy, it's not flexy/too rigid and it's flies.
My last bike was a Alloy framed Intense, I loved it, but I found myself looking at the Carbon one and wondering if I should have tried harder in school or something, I know it's not right, but it's honest.
I was chatting to a guy on an aluminium 5010 and he was saying it weighed a tonne
It didn’t, not as light as 5010 cc but still pretty light so I’d assume Bronson will be similar
Certainly demo one before pulling the trigger.
I demoed a v2 alloy b2b with a carbon and they felt night and day different in terms of feel/handling (not surprising really)! Not to mention the weight!!
If you’re just considering Alloy bikes, you’re hard earned £££ may well be better spent elsewhere.
Im going to dive in on this, ive been looking at the Ali Bronson too but the worry is will it go in a Thule 591 roof bar with the shock placement? , The size is right and demo felt good thats a stumbling block for me.
Goes on a 591 just not with a bottle cage fitted.
