Away touring and my feet are in a mess
Suffering from hotfoot even on flats. And swollen.
Anyone tried sandals for riding ?and which ones if so
Loads of Dutch and Germans do it so why not?!?!
Shimano make some SPD sandals and your friends at Spa Cycles sell Exustarr? branded ones
Don’t EF Education have branded Crocs?
I whacked my little toe on a hidden log. Even with substantial shoes it hurt like ****. Couldn’t wear certain shoes for 3 weeks.
God knows what would have happened in sandals. I think it would have been broken beyond repair.
We used the shimano spd sandals for years in Japan. A bit minimalist for MTBing but great on hot roads.
I find Decathlon sandals perfectly adequate with my hybrid's MTB SPDs for cycling to the beach, cafe and boulangerie when camping in France, but then I'm not doing big miles on holiday (and you can't make me).
Jade Saskia always ride in her Keen sandals. Dales Divide, HT550. Works for her
I have a pair of these, worn them without problem on 2/3hr rides on flats, they stick to pins well. Toe box so your not so vulnerable to rock strikes. I nearly wore them for a six day Scottish c2c2c recently but decided to go with 5.10s instead, but regretted it, it was warm.

Many years ago a mate had a sandalled foot-concrete bollard interaction which left his big toe in a bit of a state! After that, I thought riding in sandals to be a bad idea.
as above, Keen would be ok.
i regularly ride in my merrells on my touring bike - it has T7000 flat/spd combo pedals though .
This is my summer tip....cut the tongue out of your shoes. I put velcro loops on the tongues so that they can be used when it's not so warm.
The breeze on the top of your feet is lovely.

I egularly ride in my merrells on my touring bike
Was just coming to say last summer i commuted in minimalist barefoot shoes. Lovely and airy (though not as airy as sandals). As long as you have no expectation of putting power down and there is negligible chance of smashing your feet on hidden objects you can wear anything you like!
Keen sandals purchased.
Thanks all.
Another vote for Keens, think mine are Newports too.
Just this week, one of our mates, who’s a SPD sandal wearer in summer, fell off, slipped out of his cleat, and the sandal folded onto its side, allowing his foot and ankle to slide down behind the crank.
E-Bike, so the motor carried on rotating for a few seconds wedging him good and proper.
Thankfully, there were four of us to lift him and the bike and eventually release him by slowly rotating the wheel.
Much scraping and bruising occurred.
if I needed any putting off, which I didn’t, this was it.
