I’m off to Samoens in the Alps next week and I am keen to do some mega climbs and descents. Does anyone who’s been recently or knows the area recommend if there’s plenty of trails for the non-Enduro brigade?
Thanks
Rich
Not been for 10 years or so, but enjoyed it on my 10yo trail bike, which would probably be akin to a modern XC bike, provided it was dry. For my skill level it was one of those places - probably due to being steeper than I was used to, that was very slippery when wet
Me and my 12 year old son took our 120mm travel 650b hardtails there in 2018, the most fun riding was most definitely at Les Carroz. We rode Samonens too, we didn't die, stuck to (I think) blues and the odd red section. There's some bonkers trails there which we avoided! Ski lift guy did stare at our bikes a bit scratching his head (are they pros or fools...!!!). If your able: wack big tyres & rotors on & a high rise bar. Open air pool there was nice too. Avoid the parapente pilot who necks beer during his lunch break. Enjoy.
Trails from Samoens 1600 might be a bit tough on a xc bike.
Try other side of Samoens village towards refuge de Boston. Also plenty of old school stuff over at Morillon that would be ideal on a modern xc
In short - yeah there is plenty
Thanks everyone for the comments!
