Nuts. The speed into to the rock gardens is just 😯

What sport is he doing here? It's entirely unrecognisable and bears no relation at all to the mincing I regularly enjoy

Definitely nuts. His feet were off the pedals so many times to balance the bike I'm amazed he got to the bottom. Brilliant skills.

Great run, some of that track looks a little 'interesting'. I think it'd take me most of the afternoon to pick my way down the top half 😀

Is there any where you can watch the full event, or parts of it?

They should have a highlights package up at some point.

Found it doesn't look at rocky from the side, but some of those gaps and drops are nuts!

Would be interested to know what speed they got up to on the last section?

That's how I imagine it must look when I ride my bike. Fortunately I don't have a Go Pro so I will never know the difference.

Mrs Digga watched the Steve Peat "Won't Back Down" documentary with me last week. At the end, she simply said, "Sam Hill's the best". Decision made, and now there's no swaying her. She may have a point. (Although I'm extremely pleased for Ratboy.)

Great to see Sam back on top form, always been the most exciting rider to watch imo.
Wonder if he'll get back into his winning by a huge margin on muddy courses thing he used to do?

Bloody fast that. Although I reckon Ratboy would have been faster if he wasn't going for the overall win. His top section was crazy.

I've always loved Sam Hill as he has a tremendous talent. A well deserved win.
Whenever I hear his name this is the image that comes to my mind.
Sam at the World Champs, Val di Sole. I ca't remeber the year.

When you get "doppler shift" off the trackside chainsaws and cowbells, you are officially "seriously moving" 😉

Bloody hell, actually checked the time to see if that had been speeded up a bit! Wasn't even his winning run. Great to see Sam Hill back to winning ways this season.

This, definitely ratboy was taking it a lot steadier the second section, it wasn't worth the risk of making any mistakes for him

I was lucky enough to be there trackside. I've not been to an event like it, an incredible day.
They had a speed trap at the top section of the open bit of the final run and 48kmh was about the average, which on that gradient with those open un-bermed turns was a sight to behold! The sound of the fans was the best bit, chainsaws, airhorns and cowbells filled the valley!

It was his clinging on to those grassy off camber turns at the bottom that stood out for me

He was neck and neck with Bruni until the big grassy turn after the woods

Anyway pinkbike reckon his winning edge came from the procore

Interesting as I thought the main benefit was puncture resistance, gwinn and brosnan both lost races (and the series?) Due to punctures

That's truly incredible.

I'm the same as you Rene, that's exactly how I imagine I must look!

Procore is a great option for DH, remember seeing similar on Team DH bikes at fortwilliam many years ago, had a good talk with the Mechanic for B1 about the system on Bas De Bever's bike, that must have been around 2004/2005? it was the year Iron horse (and Sam) first ran the Sunday.

Do you think they can pick lines at that speed or just smash and jump through everything

I think the mind picks the lines, the body rides the bike. You hear similar with many top athletes or trained professionals. No thought is put into the immediate, it just happens due to practice and training and i suppose, trust in your abilities.

While that's true to some extent, there's the track walks, followed by practice runs to figure out their lines. I'm fairly confident he wouldn't hit those lines on his first pootle down
