I seem to have collected enough spares to build up another bike, but missing a frame....

Forks are 29" 100mm travel Reba's.

So....given previous suggestions on here, thinking about a Salsa Spearfish.

Anyone any experience of them?

Now, if anyone has a surplus small or medium frame.....

Thanks.

I had one years ago, good bike for covering large distances but never found it that much fun.

Fastest bike I’ve ever ridden... mind you it’s the only 29” XC full suss I’ve ever ridden

I would probably still have it if I could justify 2 full sussers, but I went for a hard tail and a slightly burlier full suss

Mine was either unremarkable or faultless.
It just got on with the job. I replaced it with an Anthem which had the ability to sprint like a hard tail .

Had one, also found it fast but unexciting replaced it with the horse thief which I regret selling it was awesome

I've had 2. Hard to fault.

Only downside is pf30bb.

And quite tricky at times to set up front mech.

Not had one, but didn't quite a few of them crack?

I think it was the pre-split pivot point ones that cracked. Mine did (chainstay), great fast flowing mile muncher bike. I got round the PF30BB by fitting a rotor 24mm converter & fitting my old slx crankset.

I had two, not bad at the time but very steep/short/upright by modern standards. I followed mine with a Lurcher that didn't really seem any harsher to ride, and as above, setting up the gears always seemed a faff but that could have been SRAM to blame.

There's a new one on the way which I'm quite excited about though but I bet it'll be $$$$$$

Johnny, I bought your 2011 green Spearfish! Love it, even though I’m putting it up for sale soon. Thought it would be a bike I’d keep forever, but can’t put the kids tag along on it and the shed is rammed. Keep an eye out in the classifieds if you want a large.

I've one of the 2012 (I think) models bought second hand. Definitely a mile eater. Mine's an aluminium frame and not the split pivot. There's a shot of it in the current thread about 24 hour rides.

Salsa did drop the Spearfish last year but there's a 2019 version, carbon only, and (@weeksy) it no longer has the press-fit bottom bracket 👍 Chuffin' pricey though

Nope, the new Spearfish, Horsethief and Rustler (dropped the pony!) were revealed today.

The Spearfish at least is available in alloy in SLX and Deore spec:
